    Help Needed Mysterious clunking noise

the stub axle is probably badly worn and there is also a good chance the wheel bearing is shot. There is a needle bearing inside the unit bearing that supports the stub axle that probably got wasted. If you end up replacing the bearing with a stock type replacement, stay with a ford or...

Help Needed Need help with a fuel leak on my '02 7.3L!!!!!

shoot..Sorry for the delay man! I haven't been online for a few days. Anyway, I paid about 45-50 for the whole valve (from the dealer). I think your numbers are about right. I believe you can change just the o-rings for 15-20 bucks. But I just thought it might be cheap insurance to change...

Help Needed Need help with a fuel leak on my '02 7.3L!!!!!

I had the same problem, and ended up changing the whole valve. I figured that a plastic valve that sees heat from the engine, that deals with fuel should probably get changed once in a while. But that is just my opinion. I'm sure others may view it differently. Greg

Read This.... What do you think...

I'm with DaveBen on this one. The shop I used to work at saw a few trucks that would stall after warming up due to the regular oil foaming up in the hpop oil system. I'm staying with my 15w-40 thank-you.

Question What did you do to your truck today?

changed the headlight bulbs with some (hopefully) brighter ones. when there is a car behind me at night with their lights on, there would be a shadow in front of me. I also cleaned the battery terminals.

    MAP Sensor

Big joe - Well said, about aluminum pistons. I'm a welder and when I get the metal hot it melts, so to speak. So I guess I think in laymens terms.. haha The pistons and rings do disipate heat pretty well, and are constantly quenched by incoming air/fuel mixtures which does allow them to...

    front end issues

What you describe is called bump steer. Since you had a drop trackbar bracket installed, then you will need to install a drop pitman on the steering gear. The goal here is to have the drag link (short shaft from steering gear to the tie rod) and the track bar at roughly the same angle. This...

    Question Brake spongey

sounds like you probably have it nailed down. Be sure to get fresh fluid in the system since you got new calipers. May not be a bad idea to pull the pins out before you mount the calipers and make sure they have some lube on em'.

    Question Brake spongey

Rio, check the pins for sure. Clean them and the holes the best you can and reassemble with a little grease or anti sieze. One telltale sign that they are problematic is if the pads are not wearing evenly (on the same caliper). Also, you can get an internal leak in the brake master where...

    Question Clutch???????

it has been several years, but at the last shop I worked at we saw a few 2 piece flywheels cause problems like you are listing. I think ford might have gone away with the 2 piece since then (not sure). Definately go to a one piece if you currently have a dual mass flywheel.

    Question aftermarket air intakes

The Volant intake looks pretty good. I made the mistake of putting the K&N on my truck several years ago. That might be the next thing to go.

    wierd vibration

In 2WD and front hubs unlocked, the front axle shafts and drive shaft do not spin. So it's pretty unlikely it's a front driveline problem. You might need to have the wheels balanced. Also, block the tires and put it in neutral. Get under the truck and wiggle the rear driveshaft at each...

Question What did you do to your truck today?

Installed the FS-2500 Bypass system for engine oil. Easy install, and switched to Amsoil in the engine.

Help Needed Batteries? Alternator? Or Short?????

if your batteries are not sealed, you can pull the caps off and check the water with a hydrometer. Sometimes one or more cells can go bad. You can also look at battery voltage with engine off. A fully charges Batt. will read about 12.68 v. Disconnect one battery from system to accurately...

    Wheel bearing or locking hub?

I tried Dorman bearing assemblies once. I went through 3...yes THREE sets in one year. If you replace it with a stock style unit, then stay with Motocraft or Ford. You will pay about $300 a pop but they should last for a while. Or go with the Dynatrack kit and be done with it;tu

yup, sounds like a problematic hub. How old is it. Maybe warn would be willing to warranty it? I have never tried to open one up.
