    Funny you mention air intake sensor, the plug on mine has been messed up since I bought the truck. The old sensors tabs are broke off in the plug and have been meaning to fix it,will give that a try first. Thanx for the help

    ok. cool, but its never done that before and i've had the truck almost a year. also have a delete pipe so no muffler. and at high idle its noticeable. :-) so your sayin this is normal?:confused:

    I have a 02 f250 superduty 7.3, it will go into high idle but when I pull away it stays in high idle unless I hit the accelerator and when I let up it goes back into high idle, and seems to do this until it gets to operating temp. Any idea what it could be?

    Quick question, what should the test strips read? gives percent of glycol and PPM of nitrites. what are the norm for these readings?

    Thanx everyone for all the help, i got the additive and test strips today, will either drain the radiator or possibly get it flushed this week ,will look into getting the filter also. i have a friend who installed one in his truck last year, he could probably help me with it.

    I know there is a truck shop in this area that sells an additive and the test strips, do you still use normal automotive coolant tho?

    whats the dif between green and gold? also is it best to use straight coolant then add water, sounds like it may be in my best interest to add a coolant filter inline?

    Yea could of saved a ton of money, but having the time to do it is the problem,also the truck is my daily driver which also poses a problem on down time.

    A friend has told me that there is an additive i need to put in my coolant to help keep it from corroding the inside of the radiator. is this true or is there a special coolant i should be using for diesels?:dunno

    I posted several weeks ago on diesel in my coolant overflow for a 7.3 psd, and was told from several people in this forum it was probably a cracked injector sleeve. this did infact turn out to be the case, 2 sleeves were broke and 3 others were bubbling around the seal , so i ended up having...

    ive heard this too, but first will try and get the diesel out of the coolant, then will change thermostat ( diesel site has one, 203 deg stat) and will probably do water pump then , before it dies. thanx for the heads up!!

    thanx for the input, has been very helpful. have also been told it could be a cracked head, hopefully this isn't the case. will probably try and find a shop to do the work, if its not too expensive, as i'm not really familiar with diesel engines. will let ya know how it all goes. :)

    so is that a major fix or not bad, do it yourself fix or have a pro do it??? truck has 112,000 miles so thermostat may be bad also. Thanx for the help!!

    I have an 02 f-250 7.3 diesel and have been getting what smells like diesel fuel in my radiators overflow tank and eventually overflows thru the weep hole, and seems to take a lot longer then normal to reach operating temp., 20 min. or better any ideas whats going on???:(
