Thanks again, I have heard that there is a chip out there that really improves power and fuel mileage for these Fords. I have a Edge in my Duramax, it gives it a hell of a pile of power but doesn,t increase mpg. I tried towing in all the different ranges and the best mileage was when the chip...- Larryd1

I always run between 60 and 70 mph towing and have never seen any real change in mpg. I have run tanks at 1800 rpm up to 2100 rpm and not much has ever changed in my mileage. The best tank I ever had was running at 82 mph for 250 miles I got 21 mpg on that tank, I drove another 2000 miles on...- Larryd1

Towing fuel mileage/empty fuel mileage
Looks Good Thanks for the replies, By what I have been reading it is looking like the 6 liter gets pretty good mileage towing, My Duramax sucks fuel even with my 2,000 lb boat/ trailer and excessories ,this is a 16.5 ft boat with a travel cover and everthing I just got 13.5 mpg at about 60 mph...- Larryd1

I posted this in tow and haul. I have a 2002 Duramax Diesel short box ext cab 4x4 60,000 miles. The mileage it gets empty is around 20 mpg With my 5 th wheel 8,000 lbs. 10 or 11 mpg. I am thinking of buying a new 2006 Ford quad cab with a 6 liter diesel and wanted to know what the mpg on...- Larryd1

Towing fuel mileage/empty fuel mileage
I own a 2002 Chevy Duramax 4x4 ext cab 60,000 miles on her and was thinking of trying a new Ford with the 6 liter diesel engine.It is a 4 door 4x4 short box, auto. 3.73, 2500 and was wondering what kind of mileage the Fords are getting towing and empty.
