    Bilstein shock owners.....

2wd 2000 7.3L, Bilsteins in the front, MX6 in the rear Regarding your question, I don't like them. They seem WAY too stiff. I think Bilstein recently (in the last year or so) changed the valving. Their Chief Valving Dude (CVD, or something, lol) was not happy with the old Chief Valving...

Talk about the 7.3L CPS Here!

Someone else already alluded to it...but might I recommend buying a new one, replacing it in your driveway or garage where it's nice and easy to work on the rig, and then toss the old one in a ziplock bag inside the glove compartment just in case the NEW one ever goes out. No crawling around in...

TECH: Rear sway bar (install)...worth it's weight in gold!!

I will be replacing my front as well. This thing still turns like a barge, even with the drastic improvement. BTW, anyone with a 2wd somewhere in Phoenix, I would love to drive it and have you drive mine to tell me if I'm just a complainer or if my X drives like absolute crap. I drove my...

TECH: Rear sway bar (install)...worth it's weight in gold!!

Hey there, Bill. Great to hear from you. I'm LOL about the DW comment...I seem to talk about DW with at least three or four customers a week, it seems. Thankfully we've come up with a combative measure that's been pretty effective. Thanks for saying "hi", my friend! Kevin

Crazy ideas for improving fuel economy...anyone gone THIS far?

Thanks for the great information, Eric. I've printed out the post for reference. Anyone else have anything to add that may have not been covered so far? GREAT info, Eric...thanks again!! Kevin

    Edge Programer with Attitude module

If you use a magnet both on the bit and tap itself, you'll keep shavings to a minimum. I put a magnet over the bit and started with a 1/8" bit, then 1/4", then the final one. After you're done tapping, simply run the magnet down the manifold and stop at the hole a few times. You'll get a...

TECH: Rear sway bar (install)...worth it's weight in gold!!

I installed an Addco rear sway bar into my 2wd X a couple of weeks ago and have noticed a DRASTIC improvement in driveability. o FAR less lean around corners (obviously) o Less understeer around corners o FAR less left/right neck-snapping forces when hitting a speedbump or pothole with...

    Rattling like a loose shock

Eric: I'm willing to bet money that the squeak is your front sway bar mounts to the body. The factory mounts on my 2000 X were beat to a pulp...looked like they'd be better suited to hold an egg rather than a sway bar. I always sell greaseable polyurethane sway bar bushings from Energy...

    Fuel Economy Changes

Thanks for bringing this question up in a new post, Hoss. I'm looking forward to seeing the answers. However, one thing that wasn't asked of the forum is to post their stock tire size and gear ratio. My suspicion, though maybe from inexperience, is that not everyone had our 265/75R16 with a...

Crazy ideas for improving fuel economy...anyone gone THIS far?

Thanks for the info, Eric. I'd be more than willing to pay you for your time to put together a compilation of all the details that you've found out so far so that I can figure out whether it makes sense for me or not. Interesting about the Tranny hump...never thought of that...but wouldn't be...

Crazy ideas for improving fuel economy...anyone gone THIS far?

Yep, 'ya got me perfectly!! That's exactly what it's about. I like tinkering, as I think we all do. My business (KevinsOffroad.com) began by tinkering. Turns out, other Jeep owners wanted to pay me to tinker on their Jeeps. Anyway, the cool factor of having a 6sp in an Excursion is probably...

Crazy ideas for improving fuel economy...anyone gone THIS far?

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Bill, currently I have the desert-storm air intake. Can't recall the name of it right now, but it does bring in cool air. I also ordered up the fender-vent foam dealie, but haven't installed it yet. The only other mod is the Juice w/A. Hoss, just so that you...

Crazy ideas for improving fuel economy...anyone gone THIS far?

Hi all. Let me first state, I'm a little misguided sometimes, and sometimes find pleasure in doing things the hard way, for no apparent reason, normally. That said, I'm exploring ways in which to improve the fuel economy of my 7.3L. Here are some half-****ed thoughts, in no particular...

    Transmission Fluid Change

FWIW, I had a 70's C6 Ford Tranny that had about 130k on it. Decided to change the fluid out and it ate up the tranny. I only had reverse...no forward gears...and this was within maybe an hour of driving it. Not sure if our tranny still has that propensity, but I, for one, have had it happen...
