    Oil Filter Discussion

Thats what I was trying to get across. Personally I don't care where you buy your filters. I would buy OE if I was servicing my truck but to each their own. If the aftermarket filter does not match up perfectly in every way I would not even remotely consider using it.

    Oil Filter Discussion

I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. I work for a dealer that FIXES trucks. We fix other dealers mistakes. I deal with fleets that own hundreds of 6.0s. I believe that I have the experience. Maybe I have not worked on them with my own two hands but I discuss these issues with...

EGR issues? Take a look at this:

Thats not the claim. How many 6.0s have you worked on? Maybe yours only? How many EGR valves and intakes have you removed and cleaned? I have seen quite a few. Buy a different brand or just buy 45+ cetane fuel. The idea is that low cetane fuel causes the problem. Anyone that knows anything about...

Remove the doubt about what is the right 6.0 filters:

Your opinion is noted. I have mine and the manufacturer has theirs. I am probably one of Ford's biggest critics what what they say here makes perfectly good sense to me. Good luck.

    Oil Filter Discussion

The idea behind the booster is to prevent the build up. Its not designed to clean the EGR. Maybe you should read the information before making judgment. While I am not a tech I do know quite a bit about the issues that plague the 6.0. Ford/Navistar have studied the failures. I have attended...

Remove the doubt about what is the right 6.0 filters:

I never trashed the Fram filter. Its your truck. Use whatever you want. Personally I don't care what a Fram filter looks like because I am only going to install Motorcraft filters on my truck. Its been that way for 214k miles. Its a good thing that you are no dealing with another manufacturer...

Remove the doubt about what is the right 6.0 filters:

The ad is no joke. It did not claim to keep a EGR valve perfect by using it. Its claim is it helps the problem. Read the "bottom line" before passing judgement. Most pump diesel is only 40 cetane or less. Ford/Navistar states 45 mininum. A 7.3 could probably run forever on less cetane but it...

EGR issues? Take a look at this:

Ford/Navistar believe that fuel quality is a big cause for EGR problems. Take a look at this PDF below. Additives could help the poor quality fuel we currently see at the pump.

Remove the doubt about what is the right 6.0 filters:

I am personally not a fan of additives but this stuff did do what it claimed. I wish I could give you a personal opinion on a 6.0. Maybe my millage increase was a fluke. I donno for sure but it did quiet my one noisy injector for sure. :sweet Here is a PDF on EGR and Motorcraft...

Remove the doubt about what is the right 6.0 filters:

This to my knowledge is not published. I got this from a Blue Diamond engineer. His claim is that the additive can raise the cetane 4-6 points. I have ran the PM-22-A in my 7.3 and it quiets injectors on a 7.3. It also raised my mpg by 1.5 which suited me just fine. His claim is that it will...

Remove the doubt about what is the right 6.0 filters:

No, I own a 7.3 BUT I spend a lot of time with 6.0 customers. There is no denying that the 6.0 has problems. There are quite a few of them that can be prevented. Using OE filters is one way. Another way to help resolve the EGR issues is using PM22A Cetane Boost. The biggest reason for EGR is...

Remove the doubt about what is the right 6.0 filters:

Motorcraft 6.0 Filter Comparison Don't take a chance at using a filter that can/will harm your 6.0. I have talked to the engineers and read their studies and this is the gospel. You get what you pay for when you buy OE filters. This video explains why.

    Stumped

Black smoke and no power? EGR. Do you idle you truck alot? Lately there has been a lot of poor quality fuel creating more EGR issues also. Any DTC codes?

    fuel supplement???

It may be more noticeable in a 7.3 since the injectors are known to be noisy.
  16. BlueRidgeRunner

    fuel supplement???

That stuff is awesome. I use it in my 7.3. It quieted the injectors and picked me up another 1.5 mpg. PN is PM-22-A which is 6.99 msrp a bottle. Most dealers sell it for less. Poor fuel cetane and extended idling is the leading cause of EGR problems on 6.0 engines. Most fuel is 40 cetane or...

    Oil Filter Discussion

Be VERY careful about using the aftermarket oil filter. Remember that oil controls the injectors on a 6.0. If a filter fails to activate the valves in the filter housing that feed the HPOP than you could starve a pump or injectors. The oil filter is a big part of the fuel system. Make sure the...

    Napa fuel filter problem?

Notice the slot in the opening of the Motorcraft filter in this picture: http://www.superdutydiesel.com/forums/attachments/6-0l-powerstroke-engine-drivetrain/7675d1204507201-napa-fuel-filter-problem-p1000219.jpg The slot in the MC filter is an "air bleed" that allows the air in the filter to...

    Not Impressed!

I drove a 08 F350 yesterday. I was also not impressed comparing it to my DP Tuned 7.3. My truck would dust it out of the hole.

Who is parking their truck today?

I plan on driving my Escort ZX2 for a while in solidarity with the independent trucker.

Who is parking their truck today?

I am sure everyone here here read the news that the independent trucking industry is parking their trucks in a effort to get the price of fuel down. My truck is in need of a valve body update anyway so I reckon in support if the independent OTR drivers I will park my diesel truck and fix the...

Well it finally happened. 4R100 BOOM

Well I picked it up last night. It is a much more pleasurable vehicle to drive now. The shifts are a lot firmer than before and it seems to put more torque to the ground. I will know more once I hook up the boat and load the camper. I believe I am also going to upgrade my engine programming from...
