Question The air dam under the front bumper
As I remember, the longer air dam WITH the newer optional 3.55 gears was supposed to add 1.5 MPG or so. The theory is that the chassis components under the front of the truck created air turbulence, which hurt mileage. numbering Never gave it much thought on the ford diesel numbering, haven't needed to know (yet). Looks like Navistar went with the "Chevy" way of numbering. Makes sense to a point, the pistons (and cylinders) are numbered in the order they're installed on the crankshaft, one in front, eight...- tbrown613

Question TSB 09-16-2 Diesel engine ticking /tapping
I do not have the tick (12,500 miles), but I have heard reports of others that experienced it take the motor up to 3500rpm a few times or so and the tick goes away until the next oil change... I'm wondering if the high revs "blow out" some trapped air in the oil galleys or something similar...- tbrown613

Slow to take off?
Had the same concern when I got mine. Do as described above and "roll into it" instead of stomping on it. I believe a lot of the lag is the fuel management strategy used by the 6.4L to reduce soot. I also believe a Spartan tuner will greatly reduce the lag...!- tbrown613

trying to find fuel filters-- WHERE??
+1. Bought a set through them recently. Great price, quick delivery. I've heard rumblings from other fellas with fitment problems for the Wix/Fleet filters. Dyno Day 2nd Annual club dyno day!
