Totally agree. CNCFab is a great company.

    Alternator Upgrade

IMO a 140A alternator will NOT be enough. I installed the E-series battery boxes on the passenger frame rail and then added two extra batteries (deep cycle) to which I connect an inverter (Samlex 2000W pure sine wave inverter) as needed. I then installed a 250A alternator and upgraded the...

    Temp gauges swapped?

I would disconnect one of the two sensors at the connector on the sensor itself and see which gauge changed just to verify your suspicions. I am not yet convinced that they are swapped (or even that they can be). The coolant sensor may be the easiest to get to.

    First post starting problem

Yeah it is too bad that this 6.7L sub forum isn't active. Fortunately there are still a couple of active 6.0L forums around for us die-hards!

I haven't seen much of this ..........:haha (fortunately)! Didn't know that oilburners.net was a sister site. Good to know!

    Temp gauges swapped?

A scan tool that pulls the PCM data would be HIGHLY helpful. With it you can see what is actually going on with the sensors. Torque Pro on a smartphone is a good tool for pulling (and watching) PCM data (PIDs). It is a pretty good tool for pulling codes as well. IMO ForScan on a laptop is...

    Temp gauges swapped?

These dash gauges are SEVERELY dampened in their response/indication. Just some fyi type stuff: Operation of the engine temperature gauge (coolant temperature): When the gauge rises off of C to the lowest mark of the "normal range", the coolant temp is apprx 140 to 142 *F When the gauge rises...

Start/No Start then Start/No Start. Not Fuel Filters...

My fuel bowl drains also. It really isn't supposed to, but it isn't a real big deal. I don't think they would drain down with the cap on, and that is the important thing. As far as the no-start goes - be sure to keep your batteries charged when cranking a lot, but sometimes it takes 6 or 8...

Start/No Start then Start/No Start. Not Fuel Filters...

Your early 04 does not have dummy plugs (I just mentioned them because the people with 04.5 and up engines do have them and can have issues with them). Sorry for the confusion. The standpipes that I was talking about are what connect the oil rail with the branch tubes. The branch tubes are...

Start/No Start then Start/No Start. Not Fuel Filters...

I hear you on "dreading" the dis-assembly. That is why I tell people to get the DieselSite upgraded HPOP. It is your best bet at reliability. Many OEM (re-manufactured) HPOPs have failed "out of the box". Bostech (and Bosch) has a TERRIBLE record as does OReilly's HPOPs. Lifetime warranty...

Start/No Start then Start/No Start. Not Fuel Filters...

You can get by with 2 bolts of the turbo. Having only one bolt could cause a problem I would imagine. That bolt on the intake and EGR cooler just stabilizes the system. That helps support the up-pipe. Sometimes the exhaust system "bellows" (or expansion joints) get to vibrating and fail.

Start/No Start then Start/No Start. Not Fuel Filters...

I suspect with the IPR valve, you might have ordered one for the late 04. They are not intended to "interchange" with the 03 and early 04. Who knows, maybe RA sent you a 7.3L 2003 ICP sensor .... I know Rock Auto has good prices, but I REALLY prefer ordering from AutoNation White Bear Lake...

Start/No Start then Start/No Start. Not Fuel Filters...

A couple of things come to mind (if it doesn't start) ..... First, there has been a rash of standpipes failing quickly - even new ones failing immediately upon install. TYPICALLY it is the 2004.5 and up standpipes that have issues, but it seems it is related to the quality (or lack there-of)...

Start/No Start then Start/No Start. Not Fuel Filters...

Been on vacation. Just got back. haven't read all your posts, but ALL 6.0L ICP sensors have the same thread. Where in the world did you get that ICP sensor?

Start/No Start then Start/No Start. Not Fuel Filters...

You can do the ICP and IPR with the turbo on. Remove the intake, the degas bottle (or at least remove the holddown bolts and push it to the side), and the FICM. You should be able to reach around and do what you need to do. You will need to plug up the small hose openings on the degas bottle...
