How is the axle shaft supposed to be removed from the knuckle? It has the seals for the vacuum assist. Are they to be destroyed and replaced? Definetly not as easy as my 97!

Get new seals, as they will get damaged. The shafts do come out with a little persuasion. I used a big screwdriver to pry my shaft out. The article is in the WIKI section, above on the top line.

WIKI on hub removal.....shows yellow inner oring seal for the ESOF.

There is a black outer oring on the hub lock mechanism that you can replace also.

There is an inner and outer seal on either side of the u-joint that you will want to replace.

The outer seal is a real pain to R & R.
