My buddy has an 02 and all it will do is idle, it won't pick up rpms at all and all the gauges are dead, whats wrong?

I had a similar symptom: http://www.superdutydiesel.com/forums/general-super-duty-discussion/21872-fuse-45-keeps-blowing.html. The trick was finding the cause of fuse 45 blowing, and that is typically NOT caused by the go-peddle croaking.
For my '02, it turned out to NOT be the throttle position sensor (TPS) that is integral with the throttle assembly. If your buddy wants to swap TPS anyhow to check, I have my old one still -- don't buy a new one!

RSG, did you find something else wrong?
Yes...if you follow the link in my earlier post, it explains that fuse 45 was blown (that's why the gauges were also out)...and I found a chafed cable in the steering column going to the overdrive switch. 3 wires in a cable, 1 bsted.

Where abouts in the steering column was the bad wire, his fuse 45 is blown? Will they normally blow that fuse when the pedal goes?
