for the most part the differences were subtle and mysterious at best...
ive not heard of any injector changes..and ive not heard of any recall or
tsb on injectors.
I know there were some changes in the software/pcm but ford never releases
and details about that (pilot injection/control was removed i THINK).

i believe your right on it bush, the pilot inj. was changed with the 04's from what i understand. the 03's with the PI were quieter from what i have been told.
i know i just had the updated PCM flash, where the injectors cycle longer at shut off.
the pilot injection issue was a software change though...and folks
couldnt get it back once the software was updated by the dealer...
lots of folks complained that the trucks were a LOT smoother idling
w/ the PI as well...but again no one was told what the software
changes were...and most folks didnt even know they got reprogramed
(or flashed) it WELL after the fact.
Mines running find & ive not recvd any TSB's (since the ebpv & trans
fixes) so 'far as know theres no REAL reason for me to go in & get
flashed (for injector cycling)
if it aint broke im not fixin' it...and my fear is the dealers dont know
much of what theyre doin & theyll either break something or wanna
try and charge me for something.

i found out the other day, that the pilot inj. can be put back in by way of the SCT custom tuner.
ya know i almost said that but 1) wasnt certain & 2) knew
that COST (what 400 ish ?) not to mention the other potential issues

100% correct. w/ a tuner you can put the truck (any truck) back to stock.
and i did like my PI, and T/H but they've been neutered.
Melmount- as i said just enjoy the truck. warranty will take care of any issues. do some research and if you can't find it - then ask. we all will jump in w/ our comments and only bill you accordingly...

I don't know of any engine changes either but, but, my 06 with 3.73s will eat my 04 with 4.10s all day untill I flip the switch on the tuner..both trucks are essentially the same otherwise..go figure..would have thot the 4.10s would have gotten the nod

ib 04 they moved the ICP from behind the turbo pedistal to the rocker cover, the HP oil rails got changes the injectors were mofified and the egr system got attention but this is just few things, in 05 the hpop was changed to a different unit and several more changes to the injection system and sofware if you really want to get a good reference for the 6.0, 7.3 or any other international engine look at www.turbotraining.com i bought his book and they are awsome...
