It all started yesterday leaving the shop. Started/Ran fine in the morning, started/ran fine at lunch, end of the day, no start. Finally after an inordinate amount of time cranking, it lit and I headed for home. I got to the first stop, and it died. Cranked, cranked, nothing. No noise from the frame rail mounted fuel pump. Tapped on it a bit, it buzzed, truck lit, then died. Towed it back to the shop.

Replaced the fuel pump (the one mounted on the frame rail) today, turned the key, fired right up. Idled for about 5 minutes and died. Cranked it again, started right up, idled for 5 minutes again, and died. Tried to start it again, nothing.

This is my daily driver (and the shop truck) - I NEED to get it moving

2001 F350, Edge w/Attitude Programmer, 214,000 miles.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

1. check for fuel in bowl. check filter.

2. is your tach moving when it cranks? if not suspect CPS. see the wiki, top right hand side of the page.

3. check your batteries.

4. check your oil level.

Plenty of fuel in the bowl. As a side note, make sure you close the drain valve BEFORE you turn the key on.

The tach isn't moving when I crank it over so it may be a CPS.

Batteries are good, oil level (on the dipstick) is fine.

I'll take a look at the wiki and see what I can learn.

Thanks!

They should carry them. There is a "new" one that has been out for about a year now. I think it is the Blue CPS and that is the one you want. And they are cheaper than the earlier ones. The Blue CPS is something like $35.00.

You wouldn't happen to have a part number for this "new" CPS, would ya?

There is a recall for the CPS. They should replace the CPS for free with the new & improved one.

If your CPS is bad, you might be able to get something for the tow too.
