2001 trans. temps.

posting for a buddy. He has a 2001 slosh box, has an external spin on filter. he says it runs 190* with no trailer runnin down the road. also the cooler lines run through the radiator and the stock cooler. that seems high to me he!! changed fluid, both filters not much change. he is goin to do do 6.0 cooler when he gets the money. we were thinkin why would you try to cool tranny fluid thru a radiator thats runnin 190-200*,seems it would heat it up to me???. that being said my 99 does not run it thru the radiator and with my stock cooler didnt get near that hot until i pulled a heavy load. he's gunna try an rerout past the radiator and see if that help. i have also heard that 2001's have tranny issues, any truth to this.
