Does anyone know if the 235/85 R16 tires and wheels will fit a 2006 F350? Will they clear the larger brake rotor and calipers? My dealer says that my new F350 4x4 is coming with the lame Continental tires. I have a 1993 Ford F350 that I just purchased new Toyo Open Country tires in the above size. My new truck is coming with the 275/70 R18. Will they swap?

The bolt pattern is different on the Pre 99 trucks. The bolt pattern changed to 8x170mm in 1999. The new trucks 05 and up ( I think ) also have 8x170mm but the offset has changed because of the new suspension under the trucks. The 05 06 wheels will not work on the 99-04 trucks and vice versa, and none of the 99-06 wheels will work on the pre 99 trucks. You may be able to find a 16" wheel that will fit your truck, or you may be able to find another brand of 18" tire in a slightly larger (wider) tire. Hope that helped:dunno

No they will not swap...budro is correct. I have Pro-Comp Xtreme AT's on my 05 F 350 http://www.discountpowerparts.com/Online_Store/Links/05_F350_Superduty_FX4.html
33/13.50R18 they are 33.6 inches tall. Nice tire. Part way down the page you will see I had to modify the molded mud flap. That was the only rubbing I had.
We had a sale on these last month buy 3 get 1 free so I went with those instead of the Mickey's or Toyo's. We carry them all and I have to say I'm very pleased with the ProComps.

Thanks

Thanks for the information. If Ford keeps changing their wheel configuration, it will cost us owners more money. Manufacturers cost goes up when volume goes down, and they will pass those costs on to us.

When was the last time they changed it? Back in the 70's sometime wasn't it? When they did away with the reverse lug nuts on the one side, 16.5 inch rims and the baby split rims, no?

The reason that Ford changed the size wheels is so they could install larger brakes in order to raise the GVWR. Competition and customer demand was the factor for the change.

Changes

If the previous posts are correct, then the 18 inch wheel came in for 2005 and 2006. 2007 trucks are getting a overhaul in chassis design. If they then change the wheel sizes and drop the 18 inch wheel, then tires for the 18 inch wheel will be only for a two year run. That would be bad for us. Hopefully Ford will keep the 18 inch wheel through 2012 which would entice the tire manufacturers to produce more 18 inch tires, therefore reducing the price. At $291 each, Toyo's are a little high, and at $105 each the Continental's are cheap, but poor quality per past posts.

I've seen 99-04 trucks with 05-06 wheels on them... looks fine....

about the 18 inch wheels clearing the calipers... umm... ford offers 17s also.... so I don't think this holds true... :sorry
