3 new Challengers arrive in Antarctica - 525 hp

Just thought i would share

2007 Cat MT865B Challenger - C18 18.1L 525hp engine - 16 sp for a max speed of 26 mph.

The smaller Challenger (the 95E) is a 2000 with a 3196 and only 310hp? maybe 350hp cant remember. They will be using the MT865Bs for delivering fuel on sleds to the south pole, its about an 1,100 mile one way trip from here to the SP. They did it this year with the red Case Quadtrack tractors pictured at the end, they have the Cummins QSX in them.

Another comment, ours have a thick metal hood with insulation around the engine, from the factory they come with a fiberglass hood like the Challenger 95E sitting next to them, pics from the Challenger website:

Hey Mike, what are the red Fassie items mounted on the back of the 2 Cats? Also that winch on the third cat is huge! There are a few Cats and only a couple Quad Tracs around here on farms. Mostly they are used for construction pulling scrapers around here. Thanks for the pictures!!

They are cranes, dont know the capacity though. The winch is 55,000lbs though, i did look at that.

They come down on the annual ship, it just left. It departs from California but i dont know how much it costs.
