4x4 Front Hubs.

I have a problem with my front auto hubs,When you drive into mud and try to engage 4wd not a thing happens but get out and lock the hubs in manually and it works. I can not find in the workshop manual away to fix this problem,:dunno any help would be good. Thanks

probably needs seals in the hubs the auto function is done by vacuum in the hubs depending on how many miles, it may need hub bearings alot of times it this happens shortly after someone does ball joints because they let things hang and it ruins the 4x4 seals when you install the new seals be gentle they are not real cheap but are easly damaged.

The most common failure I see with auto hubs is a broken vacuum line at the knuckle, second most common failure would be the vacuum seal in the knuckle, generally good for about 75k miles. The seals require a special tool to install easily and properly (though it can be done without but is difficult). If you do alot of mudding both are going to be subject to premature failure.
