4x4 Question

Hey folks,
I have the 4x4 sys that has the lock out hubs in front with the lever in the cab. My question is, do I need to always get out an put them in the "lock" position or can I leave'em in what I think they say is "auto" ( lil worn out )?? I have heard mixed reviews from friends about this. That and the passangers side front hub is incredible hard to turn. Almost need pliers to do so. But any ways, any thoughts on this would be greatly appriciated! Thanks!!

"Auto" is fine. I never turned the hubs on our 00' Excursion the whole time we owned it.

Auto IS fine as long as the vacuum system is working to engage it....

The auto takes a few revoutions to engage once the dial is turned whereas the manual locked is just that - engaged all the time....

you should turn them about once a month just to make sure they turn freely, so you CAN turn them if you have to... (like when you get stuck and CAN'T move to engage them !)

sounds like one of yours needs a dousing of wd40 or something and twisting or cleaning out until the crud is loosened up
