96 clutch fan wrench size???

he guys,

i need to know the exact size of the clutch fan nut that i need to remove the clutch fan from the water pump. i did the best i could using a tape measure to get the reading of 1 7/8". does anyone out there know if this is a definite? or should i be looking for something metric?

48mm is the correct size but 1-7/8" is the same thing or darn close. You want KD Tools part number 3296.

Auto Zone will lend you the fan tool for free. Do that first before buying or making one.

But be careful, On the counter is a chart with all the rental tools and the guy behind the counter will try to offer the one on the chart. That's for a 4.9L Gasser and is not the one you want. You need the 5-piece fan tool. Insist that they have one and all they have to do is look for it. It's not in the computer.

Two Auto Zone's made that same mistake with me.
