The compressor on my truck seems to cycle off to long. It stays off long enough for the duct temp. to get warm, as in 80-90 degrees. Checked the
charge and its OK. Hows the thermastatic control in the dash work? Is it
like a capillary tube and switch? Any other ideas are appreciated.

I really need to know what the pressures are in the system when it shuts down, but what you're describing is a restricted low side.

Domestic mobile a/c's haven't used a capillary tube and TXV in over 20 years.

Imports, mainly Asian, used them to about 1992-3-4 -ish.

Your "thermostatic control" is nothing more than a blend door actuator.

After I check the pressures, how can I check the blend door?

pull your glovebox & radio so you can watch all three actuators, then flip it from hot to cold, a/c to max, and floor to defrost.. you'll see the actuators swinging the doors.. if they click, snap or otherwise short stroke, you've probably got a bum actuator... but the actuator is going to make it go warm & stay warm..
