The ABS light has come on my dash, and isn't going out this time. Over the past two years, I've had it come on twice, but then went back out the next time I started the truck, was spread out over several months. This time however, when I start up the truck, all the lights come on like normal at first, then go out, then the ABS light comes back on and stays on. I haven't got any codes yet, going to try to get ahold of a buddy of mine that I know has a code reader.

Does anyone know what is usually the most common cause for this? I'm thinking I ought to clean off the encoder rings on the front wheels, maybe they're dirty?

Just wondering if anyone has had this problem too, just looking for a common denominator.

Thanks,

1. VSS on the rear Dif.

2. Fluid level in the Master cylinder.

3. Front Hub sensors.

And sometimes (very seldom) the ABS unit itself, on the D-side frame rail.

But yer Spot On with a good scanning.

Most of the time when an ABS light comes on and won"t go off it's your wheel bearings, according to our experience.
