I vaguely remember acetone being discussed before but don't remember what the verdict was, and a search didn't do much for me.
Anyway the reason I ask is because one of my drivers when filling up talked to a guy who was putting acetone in his Mercedes diesel. The guy said it gets him 6 MPG better :)rolleyes: ) since he had been using it. He puts in 1 once acetone per 10 gallons of diesel. Beside what I am asumming is a bogus claim as far as MPG, does acetone have any benefit?

Did it........................ totally inconclusive results in my case. I ran pretty comprehensive tests for about two months. Mileage up??? maybe? Was it 6 mpg? Heck no, maybe netted me 1 mpg. Wasnt worht the hassle IMHO.
