Can anyone give advise on the afe Intake Filter systems for the 2002 7.3. I was on Genos website and saw this set up.

You can see a picture of one installed in my truck in my picture gallery "under the hood". I like it. Easy to clean, lots more air than stock, excellent filtration specifications.

I think they are one of the best on the market. I ran a stage 1, then updated to a stage 2 on my old truck and currently run a stage 2 on my 6.0L. Cheers.

RSG,

Thanks for the pics, looks great. Have you noticed any difference such as fuel milage, loder turbo whistle. In my opinion, both would be a good thing.

Patrickc,

Sounds like you like yours as well. I think I will most likely choose this set up.

Was this an easy set up on your 7.3, anything else to buy with the kit? How long did it take to do?

hey BOT -- sorry to delay in responding...yes, the mileage went up slightly, an honest 1mpg on light loaded road trips anyhow from calculations. If you lean on it good the auto tranny "wooshed" pretty good on up-shift. I have just replaced my turbo and added a wicked wheel and different waste gate actuator and I can definitely hear more whistle now than every before in the last 4+ years I've had the truck. The "woosh" has about disappeared -- think the TurboMaster waste gate actuator is working too!

It was a very easy setup. I had already mounted a coolant filter kit and I had to nudge that bracket over a bit (you can see in my pix). I don't think I spent 2 hours on it altogether. It wasn't cheap, but my only complaint with where I got it is I asked for the blue colored filter cover and got a yellow one (which has turned sort of green after a few washings). Definitely recommend getting that extra filter protection, makes cleaning a lot easier and gives a good visual on filter load. More recently I added a Racor CCV system and use the AFE box as the mount location -- pretty handy.

One thing I was concerned about was dumping cold air over that driver-side battery in winter (think "wind tunnel"; my truck had 1 battery blanket on the other side, so I moved it over and haven't had any problems that I know of !

Good luck!
