If you bought it from a dealer I would try to get them to take it back.
You can do it yourself, it is not any more complicated than changing out a 302 or 351. you will need to pull apart the better part of the front end and get the core support out of the way. Oh and the engine is heavy so make sure you have a cherry picker up to the task.
