hey daveben are u sayin that i should not have been able to pull the axle out of the housing through the spindle with the hub off? ive been thinkin about what u said and im not sure i understand. and yes that large expensive seal is toast lol i think i found it somewhere for like $80 maybe . . if anyone has any part numbers or know where to get one i'd appreciate it. . or if anyone knows any hints that'll help change it lol

The big seal is at your Ford dealer. As for installation you can jerry rig an installer out of pipe and a flange. It works ok. Or you can talk or bribe ($$ beer)your Ford dealer to press the seal. Works alot better. Or find somebody who has the special tool for installing the seal. Works the best because you can bribe them with beer.
