It blows from the places where there aren't bases. As far precipitation Antartica is a desert. The snow doesn't come down it blows sideways. Keith

you know i spent all friday afternoon (when i supposed to be working)reading some other links about antartica and the life.
then you come along and throw some more at us

You know, I asked that question when I was there and noone could answer that. From what I've read the snow blows from other parts of the continent, and from the sea ice. Keith

Heres the Deal (;))

It doesnt Snow, per say, down there. It's to cold to "Snow". What happens is: What moisture there is, freezes and collects, so to say, on the surface. The winds.. over millions & millions of years, have blown it around the Continent and formed 3 giant "DOMES". the winds blow Ice crystals off the Domes, into valleys...... mountain ranges, Glaciers form, ice collects.... looks like Snow, but it aint.

VERY Simply put.
