My 02 f250 blew a radiator hose yesterday, I drained some out of the radiator to see what was in it as the dealer said it could be either. Looking at what came out, it looks to have an orange tint, however I am not sure that it is all that is in it. kind of brownish. So, as I am going to have the radiator flushed, not knowing what was in it. should I just go with the long life or the normal green?
Thanks
I guess it would be gold? with the Ford?

neither is recomended, it says "use what was origionaly used in your truck"... either green or gold. " if you don't know, check your resevoir." (its empty). the coolant taken out of the bottom of the radiator is inconclusive as to what has been added and or used. the dealership couldn't tell me what would have been used as that was a transition year.

My 02 came with the gold. I would go with that as it's much less of a PITA than having to monitor SCAs in the green.

thanks guys, I think it was gold, but it was more brown than gold. I'll have to flush it in a couple days, have to get the tire fixed first.

I hate to be the one bringing news form the other site but here are a few post in regards to changing from green to "gold" coolant. I plan to do this when the weather warms up.
