Any Heating Experts? Update --project completed

ha! i thought i had posted what my cousin said....guess not!

he said the old stuff had issues cracking, but they fixed that and he hasnt heard anything bad about them in the past several years.

I would guess that 80% of the homes around here have boilers and the rest have oil fired forced air. Electricity is way to expensive up here to even think about heating with it.

I am still plumbing in this thing................ Starting to figure out what the high bids were all about Should have took a week off to do it. Have about 18 hours into it so far and will probably have another 18 by the time it is done. Most the guys that bid the job told me two or three guy crew for two days so that would be 32 or 48 man hours so my 36 ain't bad Half my time is spent running back and forth to town for parts

I seem to be slower than with this project. I may be trying to hard to make it look top notch but it is turning out top notch so I guess it is worth it. Should be fired up and finished by tomorrow afternoon. Got a boiler guy that has been helping me out with the technical stuff so I think it might even work.


Moral of the story is I might be able to get back to reading the forum this weekend

I will enjoy it this afternoon when I take a two hour hot shower. We have a 2 or 3 gallon electric hot water heater near the center of the house that supply's instant hot water to the faucets and shower so you don't have to wait for the hot water to make the long trip from the garage. This little heater has been our only hot water for just over a week now even though it was designed to only supply hot water until the hot makes it down the pipe from the garage. A shower with only 2 gallons is a quick one and with five people in the house you better be first in line or it will be a cold shower. The new system will supply 195 gallons of hot water a hour so we won't have be quick anymore.

DUM BASS...
your heat bill is gonna skyrocket if you run that much hot water... I only run 40 gallons...
