I opened my e-mail today and found in the CSKproshop winter catalog, a kats magnetic block heater. It 300 watts and suposed to stick to the block. :dunno

Has anyone heard of this? It's cold here in the San Francisco bay area. My truck came from Florida so no block heater.

Thanks for the help.

And keep the rubber side down.

They will heat the oil a little if you stick it to the pan but 300 watts is not enough to send sufficient heat through the block into the coolant. A factory heater is 1000 watts right in the coolant.

As crumm said, they do work but thier primary intent is to keep the oil in the pan from turning to molasses not to warm the coolant. You arent getting cold enough in SF to greatly impact the viscosity of the oil even on your coldest nights. SOMEONE has a block heater for sale here.
