Thanks IHC. I gotta go look at that cuz I am not following your explanation. Yes, it was a fat 90 zerk. Don't see why the one stayed on the passenger side. Yes, it's 4x4 and it's been used a fair amount the past 4 months. do you think I'm going to have to remove the ball joint to get a new (ground) zerk in there? Ground on sides, right?

You should be able to get the new one in, it's tight but possible, if you looking at the threads on the zerk fitting you need to grind down the opposite end, grind it till you almost pass into the grease passage and that way you'll have no chance of ripping it out. Search around for a low profile zerk and just make sure you can bar the axle upwards and see no contact.
