Battery Question

I've been searching the forum but haven't found what I'm looking for yet. I had a question about the batteries and how they are wired. I have an 03 f350 dually with the 6.0 in it and I use it as an escort (oversize loads) vehicle. I run a bunch of electronics, cb, lightbar, auxillary 12 volt accesories and was wondering how the batteries are wired. Are both batteries used for starting purposes and then once it's running, one battery keeps the power to the truck while the other one is there if needed? Right now I have my extra stuff wired to the driver side battery and was hoping I'd wouldn't be killing anything. Any info is greatly appreciated.

They are wired in parallel so you will only get 12 vdc no matter what. This is done this way to increase the cranking amps to the starter. Both batteries are used for everything, no switching in this system.

Dead as a doornail

My batteries are dead in an '06, 6.0, due to it sitting on it's butt.

Can I take both out at once to charge w/o doing something bad to the computer? Can I take one out at a time since they're wired in parallel; will that still leave the system with a power source?

Why do you need to pull them out to charge??? Just throw the charger on either one in the truck & they will both charge.

Think of the batteries as one battery. Charge them both at once or replace them both at the same time. Never change one battery.

Yes, they both need to be charged.

I have to drive over into a funky, fenced in lot 10 min away with no electricity and a mean dog, pull the batteries and take them to my shop to charge. The truck is unregistered so I can't jump it and drive it out.

OK, that makes sense now. They can be pulled out just like any other vehicle.
