Saw a piece on the local news this morning.. a guy bought 4 "New" tires (at a swap-meet).. Hellova' deal. Still had the whiskers on'm. Had'm mounted on his SUV.

Two weeks later, the right front blew.. lost control.. rolled it.. Wife didn't make it.

Turns out.. the "NEW" tires were 12 years old !

Kind of the extreme here (Swap-meet tires).. and it's been discussed here on SDD many times.. Be Dang sure what you are buying.. and How Old They Are.. when we buy new tires* ? LOOK OR THE >DATE OF MANUFACTURE<. It's stamped/molded on ALL tires, when built.

Jus' thought I'd share ?

Joe

This summer we looked at a set of brand new hummer tires that were on Craigslist. Can't remember the manufacture date but they were antiques and very rotten even though they still had the whiskers. I replaced the tires on Crummy this summer even though the old ones were at 50% or better because they were installed in 2007. 8 years is plenty long in my book. Getting a flat is a inconvenience but having a blowout can be deadly. Not something to mess around with.
