That's cheaper than I've found. Where did you find that price? It would be great if a lowest price thread was easily available.

Their oil filters dont meet oem 'spec (in my opinion)
and their fuel filters didnt have the white media/wrap on
the primary fuel filter.
They were at one time a great oe spec filter choice...cheapest
i ever found...but then the oil & fuel filters changed (so i no longer
buy those from 'em).
the factory "in line" trans filter & the air filter are exactly like the
OEM filters.

I don't know about that flimsy little wrap on the primary filter... it fits so poorly, I can't see it doing anything , other than maybe picking up something that might be laying in the bottom of the bowl... doesn't make much sense to me.
didnt say i hadnt used the fuel filters...i wont use the oil filters though...
i just was sharing what i knew as a source...theyre a good bunch o guys.

the fuel filter is devoid of the white mylar wrap...its made to catch
and retain small water drops that may be present in the fuel...
the oil filters have a plastic TUBE running the length INSIDE the filter...
they are missing the felt "ring" or seal on the bottom and they are a
DIFFERENT height (shorter) than the OE filters.
orginally ALL filters were the same...once the mfg's got things figure
out they cut corners where they could i suspect.

well according to blackstone, it must not make that much of a difference because wear metals have been trending downwards, no matter which filter I use. About the only thing I'm seeing in there is 2% fuel and 8 ppm aluminum, and I attribute that with the fuel in the oil.

there were instances of the aftermarket filters being to short which lead teh bypass/drain valve to not seat correctly. this lead to oil under pressure for the engine, but alot of unfiltered oil running around as well. this was attributed to many failed injectors.
the funny thing is there is n way to know you got filtered pressurized oil or unfiltered pressurized oil.
it was discovered by accident when the oil bypass sytems became avail for the 6.0, the ones that replace the factory cap with a new one with an oil sample port soon discovered the flaw and WHOLLY cow
it was also found out that even a correct oem filter could be inserted in such a way to cock the drain valve partially open. so you could be running around UNFILTERED.
and never ever know it, some engines failed and ford tried to baulk about oil changes and the drivers had receipts where a ford dealer was changing the oil and filters on schedule. you would think the engineers would have seen it -popcorn

Why do 6.0 filters cost so much? I looked at the link given on this page and gasped. I'm getting up to 15k miles on my 2006. The first 2 oil changes were free the dealer offered them as a selling point.I'm new to diesels so I thought all diesels filters were expensive. What gives? The Dodge and Gm filters are pretty cheap, the old 7.3 aren't bad, but the 6.0 are way out of line. Is it because Ford is ripping off their customers ? Or are they that much better?
it aint ford...they dont make filters...theres lots of alternatives
for filters...and if you want you could use the ones from fleetfilter.com
as an alternative.
my dealer (when i was in virginia) wanted 35 bucks for the same 15 dollar
filter i can buy at walmart...
i cant imagine what the dealers are charging now but mine wanted 90 bucks
to change the oil....and the service mgr argued that they didnt give
away 90 dollar oil changed to new owners...until i got the sales mgr
involved (who told the service manager to do and be glad i brought
the truck BACK for 'em to work on) !
at the time i could do almost 3 oil changes myself for that 90 bucks...
buying the rotella from costco in the 6-1gal cases !
i remember in august 04 buying 6gal of rotella for 36bucks...now
the same case is almost 54 dollars...im sure the dealer hasnt LOWERED
