I know that there are some farmers on this site and I would like to hear some opinions of the check off system. For or against. The check off pays for advertisments you see such as Beef, It's Whats For Dinner; Pork, The Other White Meat; GOT MILK? and so on. Now I do not agree with the soybean check off. Half a cent from every bushel of beans sold goes towards the check off. As long as the farmer does not set the price for the product he/she sells, then advertising does not help. It's basic economics. I know some people can come up with arguements, but, not having a choice to pay this price, I want to know where and how these BILLIONS of dollars are spent to help the farmer and I'm not so sure that it is.
