Chiming code problem

Hello all, I have a '99 SD bone stock with 260,000 miles. I have only had it about six months and really like the truck. Ever since I have owned it the airbag light has flashed a 2-7 code several times then just stay on. It never really bothered me so I ignored it. Yesterday when I started the truck the airbag light didn't flash, but now the chime near the fuse panel beeps five times. It repeats the beeping seqence of five beeps five times then stops. I haven't noticed any problems with the truck other than some reduction in power and fuel mileage in the last couple thousand miles which I thought may be winter fuel or the new ULSD fuel. I have replaced the CPS earlier after it died a couple of times and it never stalled again. The flashing airbag light never bothered me but the beeping has me wandering what could be wrong. I plan on trying the B20 fuel when I can find some. I searched the fourms but didn't find anything. Any ideas?

The flashing airbag light never bothered me but the beeping has me wandering what could be wrong The light may have burned out , & the beeping took over to warn you. You can have the airbag code cleared if they haven't deployed

My 01 SD F250 did the same thing, a blinking 2-7 code until one day it stopped and the beeping took over!!
A Ford tech buddy of mine put his tester on it, it said I had an "open circuit". He said the problem was most likely in the passenger side air bag cut off switch there on the dash. He said they have had problems with them but suggested I check my fuses also. I checked my fuses and found one of the two air bag fues had blown. I changed the bad fuse and now I have the 2-7 code again but no beeping. One day, when the weather warms up, I'm going to check the air bag cut off switch thing and see if I can get the light to go out.

Action4478 is mistaken, the air bag code can NOT be cleared until the problem is taken care of, Ford made it that way due to the safty issue of an air bag problem.

Thankyou Red Monkey, I will check my fuses later today and also the airbag cutoff switch when it warms up.

I checked my fuses and all were good. I talked to a guy at the dealership and he said the light had probably blown so the chime took over to warn me. I will check the light soon.
