Why dont advance auto code readers or walmart obd2 code readers not work in diesels?
Or do they? I have an obd2 orange code reader(walmart I think) I was told it wont work on a superduty so I got an old superchips 1705 to read the codes.
what makes this special?
thx

this superchips is for the 7.3, I believe 95 thru 03, will it work on a newer 6.0 too?
not to down load, just read codes?

you need a code reader that works on manufacturer-specific codes...
most of the global readers (ie, the $89. ones) only read "Global" aka "generic" codes...
which these trucks have damn few of...

I know but if my sct is a code reader for the 7.3, well, actually a tuner but used as a reader for a 7.3 therefore making it able to read codes on a 6.0?
The sct tuners are also trouble code readers, they just dont perform any tests like daves b's set up

it might... depends on the software...
fault code readers have to verify the Y/M/M to function properly (hence the global ones not reading mfgr codes)...
