I i am mostly interested in its ability to read codes and reset the check engine light. The MPG, fuel pressure and volt meter are nice also,
I wonder if a check engine light comes on and you don't correct the issue with the truck, can you turn off the check engine light and keep it off?
I know this may not make a lot of sense but I do have a plan here.

some codes dont turn on the check engine/service engine lights.

if youre getting a cel or ses light then you have a problem that
needs to be resolved.

turning the light off or clearing codes wont make the problem
go away...the light and codes will just come back.

Is EGT available on that unit Bill?
The below are some that are available but unsure of the years covered.I'll add the top section in Saturday morning to see what works.

Torque into torque converter (ft lbs)
Barometric Pressure (inches of Mercury)
Cylinder Head Temperature (deg F)
Transmission Fluid Temperature (deg F)
Converter Speed Ratio
Fuel Pump Pulse Width (Bank 1)
Fuel Pump Pulse Width (Bank 2)
EGR Duty Cycle
Fuel Pump Duty Cycle
Fuel Level
Torque Converter Line Pressure
Transmission Output Shaft Speed
Transmission Gear ratio
Fuel Pressure (if no FPR)

FORD CAN (I believe these are for 2005-up not sure)

Torque into torque coverter
Barometric Pressure
Cylinder Head Temperature
Transmission Fluid Temperature
Alt Transmission Fluid Temperature
Converter Speed Ratio
Fuel Pump Pulse Width (Bank 1)
Fuel Pump Pulse Width (Bank 2)
EGR Duty Cycle
Fuel Pump Duty Cycle
Fuel Level
Torque Converter Line Pressure
Transmission Output Shaft Speed
Transmission Gear ratio
6.0L Diesel Transmission Temperature

I wasnt sure which unit you had there Bill, I had seen one very similar a few months back that obviously wasnt fed thru the OBDII port and an add on EGT was an option.

FORD "CAN" applies to all 6.0L engines (2003+) as well as
current model (6.4L) engines.

As CHP points out...there is not EGT, since there is
not EGT Pyro/Probe (from the factory).

This gauge is really only reading SOME of the data that is available
to MOST OBDII port connection devices....as such it can read engine
codes and reset them (but it doesnt provide any real diagnostic data or tests)

Im considering it just for the voltage readings (which btw you can
get thru the odometer).

Im wonder how VISIBLE the plug is coming out of the OBDII port
under the dash...i wish theyd designed this a little different so that
you didnt have to have this plug & cable sticking out under the dash all the time.

The one I received is the latest version with the xgauge feature where you can add on additional gauge readings but there's no guarantee that all work ;)

The main numbers I want is transmission, rpm, volts, mph and a few others. The plug coming off the port is a right angle style connector. I had it plugged in for a few days and really didn't notice it but then again I wasnt looking for it;) The code reader is a nice function for sometimes I wonder if a DTC was present. The thing I like about the scangauge is I'll be able to take it out and hook it up to the 09 sport wagon if needed.

That is the reason I do not leave my SCT hooked up. I mentioned it awhile back but I cant believe in this day and age that we arent wireless with devices such as these.

Well, There is a few companies that make WIRELESS OBDII Ports but I don't think they are very cheap! :rant
