Need some help please. My block heater started triping my GFI outlet as soon as I plug it in. I made sure the plugs are completly dry.

You probably have a short in the cord or heating element, happened to me last year at a friends house. Check the voltage at the end of the cord with a multimeter and then check resistance on the heater element, the cord should have close to 120 volts ac when unplugged and the block heater should show around 14-15 ohms.

Check your cord with a meter and see if theres a short. You'll need to unplug it from the block heater first. The plug is above the starter.
Your GFI may be week too.

Problem solved

Thanks For the help. I found moisture in the plug that is about 12" behind the 3 prong plug. Pulled it apart hit it with the air hose and is as good as new.
