dimming gauge lights

what ohm resistor or pot or rhestat will work for dimming LED gauge lights?

have a new set of gauges with LED's and are TOOOO bright.
i hate to buy the autometer dimmer when i can do it my self.

You can't dim LED's as they are solid state devices, which are either "on" or "off". There is no middle ground.

not aguring Dave but with it hooked up to the dash lights they dim but the problem is when the gauges are about right i cant see the dash lights.

i thought a LED was kinda a regular light but get more efficent with less input and not as fragile as a filment bulb with a lot longer run time.

Autometer sells a dimmer for LED based gauges. What does Autometer use that is so special?

No, the bulbs are built into the gauge and can not remove.

Gauges are autometer NV,kinda like the Cobalt but green.
