Has anyone made their own cold air intake for our trucks or do they just buy aftermarket. And if so did they help with the performance? Thanks for any input.
Here is a link to the write up for DIY. Most of us here have upgraded the intake either buying or building. Whether you will notice the performance change? Dont know but doubt it. Regardless, allowing the system to breathe will improve it. Especially OBS like yours and mine. There is a picture of my intake (bought) in my pics link in my sig.
hi fellow member. this is a great place to come to, good folk's , so i did the same set-up as Tx Atty. and this was a easy job. now, i maybe nuts but do do think i have better throttle response. so go for it man !!!!!!1 cheers rich.
i got the part number for the tymar style here is the link http://www.superdutydiesel.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4818&highlight=tymar+intake. but napa sold me 5 inch pipe which obviously didnt work but i found a peice of drainage tubing the blick corrugated kind for your gutters they sell a coupler at home depot for it get the one for the 4 inch tubing and it fits inside the filter and the stock air tube clamp both and your done. you will need one extra clamp. i did this and the 10k mod and my truck was completly different.
Welcome member, I have done the mod to my truck and call me crazy but didn't notice a mileage difference but I feel as though the truck does pick up a little quicker. Go for it, it's worth it.
I got a tymar intake from Dale Isley...I noticed the turbo spooling up faster, and the first night i had it in I drove 200 miles and noticed an increase of 1.9 mpg.
