Chris,

It seems a lot of trucks start out this way... first it's one that won't unlock, then it another...

What's strange it that most of the time you can get them to lock, just not unlock...

Some guys have gone the route of replacing the lock mechanism.. Which can be pretty pricey...

I went the cheap route... I bought THESE and put them in-line with the factory locks... I had three doors not working on mine... So far so good... everything works just fine... Takes about 35 minutes per door, taking your time..

Those are the locks. I put them on both my excursion and my truck, and they work perfectly. I went ahead and did it to all the doors, because I figured the last one would fail at a lousy time. Super easy, and you can t-tap the power line from the normal switch.

I think it's voltage related. Had good detail in previously attempted post, but server dumped that post into the bit bucket. :(

You added them to the factory locks? You didn't remove the weak factory units?

The door lock actuators are very prone to failure. For some reason the ones on the excursions are even worse than the ones on the superdutys. When excursions are taken in for door lock actuator failure they replace the excursion units with superduty units but they superduty units only last a little longer. After warranty runs out the aftermarket actuators are the way to go.

Ford replaced all four of ours under warranty at about 60 or 70,000 miles but we had an extended warranty that we purchased. I think the standard warranty on the locks runs our at 3/36,000 but I am not sure.
