Does the EGR Delete Kits actually eliminate the EGR Valve or just the cooler. Wait, does the cooler house the EGR Valve or does the intake?? Help me out here guys.

Never mind the location question I remembered where it is housed but I still want to know if the kit eliminates the valve.

depends on how you do it.

some <cheaper solutions> just de-activeate the valve.

some solutions use block off plates to stop the flow
of exhaust thru the cooler.

still other available systems block replace the up pipe
w/one that prevents exhaust flow to the egr cooler.

and some others go so far as to replace the egr cooler
w/ one thats welded shut.

Thanks Bush, I am familiar with the way to do it but I am curious as to whether or not the EGR Valve is actually removed from the engine and replaced with something else. It seems like I recall someone talking about replacing the valve with something else.

i havent read or see a solution that completely deletes the valve itself...
that would be a bit too obvious for most.

WOW i just spent an hour on that site looking at all the stuff they make for these trucks. I never realized you can get all those parts and get that much power! Seems like a good place to go for the sct x3 with there tunes.

With the block off plate they sell, does that do any performance or economy gains or is it just to stop the chance of having an egr cooler failure? I only have 17k on my truck, and if the egr cooler leaks i'd like that replaced for free for the next 83k.

The EGR by-pass or deletion kits that I have seen, eliminate the EGR cooler.

do you have a link to those ? the only kits ive ever seen
worked by stopping the flow TO or THRU the egr cooler.

I think Ive seen one or two that welded the egr cooler shut but
those were "home made" not kits, and even those didnt stop the flow
of COOLANT, just the hot exhaust flow.

There was a write up in Diesel Power Magazine about the EGR cooler delete kit and step by step install.

It blocks off the exhaust port at the up pipe, and blocks off the port to the EGR and has a coolant re-route tube.

It is a bolt on kit but you have to remove the turbo to do it. The artical also states for off road use only.
