EGR Valve again

Can someone please explain the EGR valve to me. What causes it to cake up with crud and what can i do to help it not build up so fast. I cleaned mine some 2,500 miles ago and already it was coated with more crud or is this just regular maitanence. Thanks for your help

Dont let your truck idle for long periods of time. shut it off alot. These 6.0's dont like idling.

Are you running a programmer that produces alot of black smoke. This will clog the EGR quickly!

I dont have a programer at all.

Get a SCT, and have the tuner turn the EGR off. Keith

Basically you have two options. (1) Clean the egr valve on a regular basis, or (2) get rid of it.

Less time idling will help. Rerouting the CDR will help. Getting rid of it will fix it for good, but that's easier said than done.

OK, Thanks for the advise. For now I'll keep an eye on it and keep it clean. Maybe down the road i can delete it, thanks again for the help.
