well i think my problem is pretty much what you guys are saying. So the fixes then would be a wicked wheel, bigger housing?

Additionally, what happened to me with the surge...did this cause any permanent damage, and if it were to happen again could it really screw things up?

Yep, W/wheel, Aftermarket inlet housing and a BPRV in the MAP tube so the MAP sensor never sees any, what it detects as, Overboost.

Doubt you hurt anything. Surge is just The Nature Of The Beast..

so the wastegate begins relieving drive pressure at 16lbs of boost?

still doesn't explain why you weren't coming out of OD if you floor it at 55mph

>Somewhere<.. around 16 pounds. I'm not sure there's a definitive number. Each one of the 7.3s I've wrenched on seems different. Proly the easiest way to say it is: At 15/16pounds, it will Begin to open. By 18/20 pounds, it should be, Full open. Stock.

It ALL has to do with demand. (loaded/unloaded, towing, racing, WOT...)

I've never had an Auto tranny, so I can't comment on those issues.

Have you checked your IC boots for leaks or loose clamps?

yea i gave them a look over and they seemed to be on tight and could not see any cracks or any problems with them. of course there could be a pinhole sized crack that doesn't open up until under load.

funny thing is though, i can take it out and drive it and make 20 lbs. of boost and hold it there no problem.
