Anyone dealt with 4 in straight back no muffler no cat how does it perform?

The cat defenitly effects power because it creates alot of restriction. My buddy recently put a straight pipe on his dodge diesel and it didn't seem to effect the performance/ power in anyway just made a whole lot of noise! (maybe it because its a dodge!) I have 4 inch bullydog duals with a muffler and no cat. They work well.
