Just got back from getting gas in mexico (2.25 p/g) and was talking to one of the customs agents and he said if you have the external pump and your tank is not connected directly to your primary gas tank they will not allow you to cross back into the states. You also can not bring back more then 116 gallons of gas without having to pay a lot in taxes as it is not considered for personal use then.
