I have heard, but don't remember where, that the F-450's are hard on ball joints. Is this true?

I was towing my 5th wheel RV and I noticed it seemed to be wandering all over the road. Very unnerving when pulling a 17K # trailer. PO'ed a bunch of truckers too when it drifted while they were passing me. :(

Took it to a dealer, where we stopped for a few days, to have it checked. I'm told they need to replace both upper and lower ball joints. Don't know if it is legit or, since I'm out of town, ripping me off. :watchout I'm letting him do the work because I can't risk a ball joint failure with 17K # behind me on the road.

Opinions please?

If you have over 100,000 miles, it is very possible that you need new ball joints. I did at 112,000 miles. You don't want to be driving a wreck-about-to-happen.
