So I searched for this mod, but I didnt see it anywhere, I know some of the SD's do not allow you to use your fog lights with just your running lights, like mine. So I robbed a mod from the f150 forum I have been on for a few years, I did this on both of my f150s, and now my 350. What you do is you pop the headlight switch out, unplug it and take it apart. You need to clip the plastic tabs that hold it together, to pop the knob off you pull it out as if you were turning on the fogs, then stick a small screwdriver, or rigid piece of wire in the hole at the bottom of the switch. There is a small plastic clip that you push in to pull the knob off. Locate the plastic ramp that guides the knob and grind or file out about half an inch, make sure it is still ramp like. that will allow you to pull the switch out in the running light position.

This image is from a ford lightning, but its basically the same,

then put your switch back together. The final step is to jump the white wire with the black stripe, and the brown wire. these are on the wiring harness behind the plug. You can jump it by either connecting them by splicing, or sticking the wire in the back of the plug in where these to wires connect to the plug. Make sure you glue the tabs so the switch doesnt come back apart.

now your fogs should come on with your running lights! and your highbeams will stay on with the fogs. In some states thats frowned upon, but come on its cool ha ha.

That's a different approach..
most guys wire a relay in the park lamp circuit that feeds the fogs when activated.. done correctly this would also require a diode above the splice in the factory wiring to prevent back-feeding.

Your way, the need for that is eliminated.

Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, when practiced many times like ive done it only takes a few mins and an extra piece of wire. I thought about the relay, but that would have required yet another trip to shmucks.... scuse me... oreilys

I get it. O'Reilly's bought another regional chain.. like they did when they bought all the Murray's (Caveman) stores in the midwest..

Shmucks was a cheezeball store, they were good for cleaners, oil, wiring, rice burner parts, and "cool" sticky back chrome stuff.... but terrible for actual parts of substance (alternator, starter etc...) we will see how oreillys is, so far im not impressed. Out of 2 of the stores I went to they didnt have spark plugs for my grannymas 99 escort wagon.... that seems to be a very common part to me.... I prefer autozone and the internet ha ha. And of course we all have a hook up somewhere from someone who owns a shop of some sort. In my case its our guy who owns a full on truck shop, accessories and all, too bad he charges mucho, but he gets it done... FAST. He always gets us in, out and wallets empty within the day, for anything. Its nice that a shop owner knows the pain in the ass of having 1 of 2 fleet trucks down.
