I got a letter in the mail that said a map update was available for my 2012 F250 so I went to http://ford.navigation.com/home/en_US/FordNA/USD and ordered it. The package of 4 CD's came in and I loaded them on the truck nav system yesterday. For those who may be considering doing the upgrade be advised the instructions say to have the engine running.......not just key on.......running, and it took 2+ hours!!! I had the truck half way in the garage(nosed in with 2 fans pointed at the grill and the hood open) and when it finally finished the external temperature reading on my dash said 118 degrees. And before you ask yes I had the idle set up hoping to prevent wet stacking. FWIW, I understand 2013 - 2016 models use a thumb drive instead of CD's and wonder if those would load to the truck faster. On a final note the above link notes which vehicle and year models this software is for. One of the models is 2010 Ford Edge which is what my wife drives. Wonder if I could update her car navigation as well?
Couldn't get the Link to open. Being as PC challenged as I admittedly am, I was thinking: LapTop + USB cord... or some other Whizo Combo. 'jus couldn't be as simple as the CD player.
4 cd wow my 2013 had a chip they mailed out A5... the sync updates also required engine running.....45 min to hour???? hold on 2017 F series trucks get updates via internet download through your smartphone our 2016 expedition did one while we were in San Antonio a few weeks ago as we drove.
