Well, I haven't gotten to tear into troubleshooting. But my experience indicates that I may have shot my Turbo. :(

Now if I have, any suggestions for an upgrade?

I have a BDP 6 pos chip, TWILDMAN programs. And BDP stage 1 injectors :burnit

I really don't need to go to radical but Love the Power I have.
Just a little bit more :sweet

im curious how you THINK you fried your turbo...

Well getting on the highway the other day had the chip set pretty high, hit somewhere around 28 on the boost gauge and when letting off the turbo made a wineing noise that wasn't normal, since then turbo boost hasn't been normal with normal driving, Boost is sticking and now at idle I am smoking out the back. Wineing noise is there when ever i do get the boost to come up. anyone want to help confirm that the turbo might be my problem :(

What turbo ? Ill assumed based on your year that the Turbo isnt a
Varible Vane based tc...

Theres not much to go wrong w/ a "conventional" (non vari-vane) tc...

I dont know these earlier year tc's...theres an oil line for cooling/lubrication
of the TC bearings right....I'd pull the intake or exhaust outlet on the TC
and spin it by hand...see if the bearings are toast or have you just blown
an oil seal ? TC's are rebuild-able...replace the bearings and seals
and youre good to go...again....

A buddy of mine thinks it's just the seal, I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. But will. No oil line it gets the oil for the cooling/lube from the base where it is mounted.

Yes I believe they are rebuild, I have rebuilt many turbos on aircraft, they are the same for the most part. I just was looking to upgrade if it is really trashed

Bad Bad Turbo

GOt a chance to look at the turbo tonight, Didn't need a dial indicator to see the play, bearing is shot, compressor blades are dinged. And got within two bolts of getting it off the engine.

I will start searching but I think I read somewhere where there is a replacement turbo with roller or ball bearings, anyone have any information on that turbo, or any experiance.

if your planning on sticking with stage 1's then there is no need to upgrade turbo. H2e will probably not be easy to spool with just s1's, maybe you could collect the superduty parts and add a bb turbo? Honestly if i were sticking at stage 1's id rebuild turbo and add a 6oh ic, your boost and smoke will go down which will result in more power. FWIW i was running less than 35 psi with stage 2's and 6oh ic in my extreme setting. So id imagine stage 1's will have even less boost. Talk to Tubzz he just installed a 6oh ic on his wifes truck, she has stock turbo and bdp 1's. He'll give ya some good info.

on which side were your blades dinged ? intake or exhaust ?
are you running an aftermarket filter ??? wondering if DIRT
(from a free breathing filter) may have caused the blade damage...
