What size front diff is on my truck? It looks bigger than a Ford 8.8 to me? :dunno

Does Ford use different front axles throughout the all year for their 4x4 Superduties and OBS?

If you have an F-250 or a F-350 it is a Dana front end. The axle code is on the driver's door post. Find that and you are 50% there to finding out what front end you have. Post back and we will try to help you. I am assuming you mean your F-250.

I got a C1 code for "axle", I assume that means rear axle though? Maybe it'll tell what the front is as well?

I can't find it on my Ford DVD, but it it either a Dana 50 or a Dana 60 differential. The 60 being the bigger differential. Look on the center section of the axle for some identifying marks.

Thanks for the help Dave!

I'll see what I can find, Im curious though.. why doesn't Ford use their 9-3/4'' instead of Dana? I dont know the ring gear size on a 50, but I know the 60 is the same as the 9 3/4 except for Ford having two more bolt holes in the cover.
