fuel gauge short

My fuel guage works intermittently, I try to do an ohm test on the sender but it always registers 0 (same as when both leads are touching). I think it is a short somewhere but just wanted to make sure the sender was working. Any thoughts on how to test a sending unit?

you should get resistance through the sender unit, sounds like yours is bad.

you are testing it the only way to do so.
